Family life is the building block of a successful society, and marriage is an occasion of great joy in the Muslim community. MUSLAF facilitates marriage introduction and also the solemnisation of an Islamic contract of marriage.

Nikkah (marriage) is a sacred social contract between bride and groom and is strongly encouraged in Islam {expressed in Quran 4:21. The marriage contract in Islam is not a sacrament. It is revocable}. It is declared to be one half of a Muslims faith. In another narration the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) has been reported to have said,

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) has been reported to have said: Do not delay in three things; 1. The offering of the obligatory prayer, 2. The offering of the funeral prayer when the deceased’s body is present, 3.The marriage of a woman when her suitable match is found.

MUSLAF offers its services to perform the Nikah for the Muslims according to the sunnah (practice of marriage principles) of Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) . After the preliminary work that goes into the selection of a spouse has been accomplished, we can organize to perform the Nikah at the wedding grounds or at the mosque.

Some Essential Requirements Before the Nikkah/Marriage:

1. Valid Passports of the Bride and the Groom
2. Original Civil Marriage Certificate (extremely important).
3. Presence of two Muslim Male witnesses, with their ID’s.
4. Presence of the Wali (the bride’s father or next of reliable male kin to the bride)
5. Conversion Certificate for new Muslims.
6. Mahr/Dowry – The marriage-gift (Mahr) is a divine injunction. The giving of mahr to the bride by the groom is an essential part of the contract and may be paid in cash, property or movable objects to the bride herself. The amount of mahr is not legally specified, however, moderation according to the existing social norm is recommended. The mahr may be paid immediately to the bride at the time of marriage, or deferred to a later date, or a combination of both. The deferred mahr however, falls due in case of death or divorce.

After the completion of the ceremony – the newly-married couple is provided with an official “Nikah” certificate to show they have been married according to Islamic Law.
